Rambling-read at your own risk
Today, the ex called to start the whole process of getting plane tickets for Piper's trip to DC. There's one nonstop from Oklahoma City to Baltimore, on Southwest. The price is good and she'd still be covered under their unaccompanied minor policy, which is even better.
Problem is that the return flight isn't going to work out.
There's a time window (any Doctor Who stuff here and I'll hurt you in the not so fun or kinky way) that the group allows the kids to arrive and exit the airport. That way, they can have someone meet the kids at the gate as they arrive and someone to stay with them at the gate until they board the plane on the way home. Another good thing, but we can't get a nonstop flight out of there that boards within the time allowed. The closest we can get that comes back here boards 35 minutes AFTER the time limit.
Okay, so he calls them to ask about it and they say there is no way they can stay ANY amount of time afterwards.
Second solution he thinks of? There's nonstops to Dallas from Baltimore, so she'll fly there and we'll go pick her up. It's only three hours from here so it's not too bad.
They won't let her fly to an airport that isn't her 'home station' since they seem to think that it will lead to kidnappings and such since her dad is the one buying the tickets. I ask the ex which airline is it.
American, home of the baggage fees.
Also found out she HAS to cary a sleeping bag on the trip. Can we say 'hello $50 down the drain'?
Then, Christian says he'll have her fly in to Kansas City and while she's there to change flights, HE'LL fly there and meet her at the airport and bring her home on another flight.
Is is so wrong for me to be offended by that? I mean, she's MINE and I'm the one that raised her and I want to be the one to pick her up and be with her after all that.
I know that makes me selfish and all but so what? He can suck my metaphorical left nut.

Little things are starting to add up and make me think this might not be such a good idea.
Piper doesn't want to fly in the first place and this is just making her apprehension worse.
