Warning! Proud mother alert! ^__~
May. 26th, 2005 01:26 pmWoo! Summer is here (even if it's 75 degrees and rainy here). Piper's last day of school was yesterday. She was sooo looking forward to the end of school, too. She's happy to have some free time, and, to be honest, I'm happy for her. She worked her butt off this year and she finally saw the fruit of her labors yesterday.
They held their award ceremony for the third grade classes at 10 (which meant that I even had time to put makeup on. Woo! Go me!) and since I didn't have to go to work until 2, I could go. It was great. Most of the kids behaved, even if they were a little noisy. Piper got 13 awards (and yes, I'll tell you what the 8 big ones were, whether you want me to or not! ^_^) and some serious applause from her classmates. I was almost happier to hear how the other kids clapped for her, since she has had such problems this year with her friends.
She got the top score in the entire grade for; science, reading, and language arts, plus she got the top reader in the entire school (and in all the district elementary schools, too). She won special recognition from the State of Oklahoma for being the top elementary student in our county (boy, that sounds like some hillbilly award, doesn't it?) and for being a top reader in the Sequoyah Reading Award program and being an advanced Sequoyah Reader. Then she won the Citizenship award for her grade. Plus a few others for art and such...
Whew.
Damn, my fingers are tired.
Anyway, ( here's pics of Piper and the awards ceremony. )
Well, I know I've bored everyone with my kiddo's accomplishments, so I'll bugger off now. I can't help it though. I'm just so proud!
Later!
