Prayers for the hurricane victims...
Aug. 30th, 2005 11:15 pmMaxie is safe in New Orleans! I got a message today that she and her puppy made it, but they're more than likely homeless. You know... that's really OK with me. She's safe, and can start again, like so many did here in Moore after the May 3rd tornado.
I think Piper said it best. I told her we should be thankful for the fact that we have our health and a roof over our heads. Usually, she'll argue with me, but not tonight.
She merely nodded and said, "and not one under our feet."
And after I settled for the night, I sat and cried. Cried with relief that she's OK. Cried in horror at the thought of what happened to all those families there, and dread, knowing that something so devestating could happen to us. But, like I said, Piper said it the best...
"...and not one under our feet."
No matter what deity you worship, pray for the survivors. They need it to make it though that days and weeks (and months) ahead.
